Back on My Feet Gala Hunter Miller | October 30th, 2018

Temple University’s American Marketing Association continued to volunteer with Back on My Feet for the 2018-2019 academic year. This year, 12 volunteers attended the Back on My Feet Gala in Center City, Philadelphia. Volunteers helped with gala check-in, live and silent auctions, and break down.

Back on My Feet is a national organization that seeks to combat homelessness through early morning runs three times per week. After 30 days, members are allowed to enter the “Next Steps” phase of the program. Next Steps provides members with job training, educational support and housing programs. The organization also allows volunteers to assist in facilitating morning runs.

At the gala, AMA was able to listen to Anthony, and alumni Back on My Feet member, speak about his experience with the program. Back on My Feet had helped him break addiction and is now helping him attend classes to become a realtor. Diane, a BOMF volunteer, spoke about how volunteering at the early morning runs helped her cope with personal problems she was facing in her own life.

Volunteering with Back on My Feet was a very rewarding experience for our members. Hearing first hand accounts of BOMF member experiences allowed us to gain insight on the hardships that members of our local community may be facing and how they persevered. TU-AMA looks forward to continuing their relationship with Back on My Feet in the coming years.
